How does it work? There are two principal mechanisms
by which activated carbon removes contaminants from water:
absorption, and catalytic reduction, a process involving the
attraction of negatively-charged contaminant ions to the
positively-charged activated carbon. Organic compounds are removed
by absorption and residual disinfectants such as chlorine and
chloramines are removed by catalytic reduction.
The Pro
Series line of equipment works to effectively reduce dirt, rust,
VOC's, chlorine, bad tastes and odors from your water.
Whole
House Carbon FiltersWhole house carbon filters
remove or reduce sediment, odor and rust protecting your pipes,
drains and more importantly, your whole family's health. The
system provided bottled quality water from every tap in your home.
Depending on your water usage, the average family of four with a
1.5 cube unit can expect to get 10 years of use before needing to
replace the carbon.
The Pro Series Whole House Filter
offers you an efficient, cost-effective and eco-friendly way to
have great water throughout your home.
• Dispenses a
constant supply of clean, healthy water throughout your home
•
Improves taste and smell by removing or reducing chlorine,
chloramines, carbon based organic compounds (VOC’s) such as
pesticides, herbicides and industrial solvents that can be found
in tap water
• Reduces signs of aging and harmful health
effects by eliminating chlorine from your baths and showers
•
Allows minerals on showers and fixtures to be removed with just
soap and water
• Extends the life of fixtures, faucets and
pipes by reducing harsh chemicals in your water
• No need for
bottled water – saves money, time and waste
• When properly
sized for your home, with average water use, you can expect the
system to last approximately 10 years without needing the media
replaced.
• Media can be replaced at a minimal charge by your
service provider.
• System allows for custom backflush settings
for optimum efficiency.
• Backflush can be directed for use as
irrigationRemoval or reduction of viral elements, chlorine or
chloramine and the disinfectant byproducts, is perhaps the most
significant benefit to installing one of these whole-house
filters.
According to the 2009 President's Cancer Panel
Report, “Filtering home tap or well water can decrease exposure to
numerous known or suspected carcinogens and endocrine-disrupting
chemicals. Unless the home water source is known to be
contaminated, it is preferable to use filtered tap water instead
of commercially bottled water.”
This filter also
"backwashes" which means you will not need to change a filter
element every 2 months or lug bottles of water two and from the
house.
We recommend doing an annual service agreement so that
we can come out, test your water, review the systems stored
computer data and be sure your system stays in perfect working
order.
Pro
Series Point of Use(POU) Carbon FiltersPOU
filters are recommended for the best tasting drinking water. Point
of use filters can be used as stand alone units or, as
recommended, in tandem with a whole house system for optimal water
filtration.
The System tucks neatly under your sink and
dispenses a constant supply of delicious water to the faucet
installed to your sink. The heart of the system is a highly
compressed carbon block filter made of selected activated carbons
that reduce bad tastes, odors, and aesthetic chlorine.
The
pores of solid-block carbon water filters are very fine, they are
highly efficient at filtering out cysts like giardia and a number
of VOCs. Because solid-block carbon-based filters come in close
contact with impurities, they are more effective than loose carbon
in removing them completely. The filters reduce impurities down to
1 microns.
Up to 500* gallons of drinking water can be
produced before the cartridge needs replacement. And when a
cartridge change is required, all it takes is a quick turn of the
filter body locking ring. No tools are required. The filters are
good for 500 gallons of water.
Pro
Series Ultra FilterUltra Filters are recommended
when health factors will require extreme water filtration or when
someone request to have the best possible water throughout .their
entire home without the tremendous waste involved with a Reverse
Osmosis system. The Pro Series Ultra Filter will accomplish your
goals and is the perfect addition to a standard whole house carbon
filter.
The Pro Series Ultra Filter is installed in
tandem with a whole house carbon system. The Ultra Filter further
reduces particulates down from the 5 micron level of the whole
house carbon filter to .015 microns. To help give you a point of
reference for the size of a micron, the average strand of hair is
60 microns.
The Pro Series Ultra Filter is a green
alternative to traditional RO systems that produce tremendous
water waste. The system requires minimal electricity and because
no chemicals are used in the filtration process, the backflush
water can be used for irrigation. The cartridge works for 750,000
gallons and then it can be replaced by your service provider.
Carbon water filters are the most commonly
utilized filtration system by homeowners. A carbon water filter is
used to adsorb impurities found in water including rust, sediment
and dirt as well as the very important and potentially harmful
gasses like chlorine, chloramine and the subsequent disinfectant
ant byproducts. By reducing these contaminants, it gets rid of
unpleasant odors and even bad taste of liquid.
What is Activated Carbon?
Carbon is a substance which has a long been
used to absorb impurities and is perhaps the most powerful
absorbent known to man. One pound of activated carbon contains the
surface area of 125 acres and can absorb literally thousands of
different chemicals. Activated carbon is carbon which has a slight
electro-positive charge added to it, making it even more
attractive to chemicals and impurities. As the water passes over
the positively charged carbon surface, the negative ions of the
contaminants are drawn to the surface of the carbon granules.
Activated carbon filters typically contain
either granular activated carbon or powdered block carbon.
Although both are effective, carbon block filters generally have a
higher contaminant removal ratio. The two most important factors
affecting the efficiency of activated carbon filtration are the
amount of carbon in the unit and the amount of time the
contaminant spends in contact with it. The more carbon, the
better.
What does it remove from my water?
Activated carbon filters generally reduce
many VOC's, pesticides and herbicides, as well as chlorine,
benzene, trihalomethane compounds, radon, solvents and hundreds of
other man-made chemicals found in tap water.
