Why Use a Water Conditioner / Softener?
Do you have hard water? Hard water is water that has heavy
mineral content, specifically calcium and magnesium. These
minerals can wreak havoc on your water using appliances and
fixtures, not to mention your hair and skin.
It's not hard
to tell if you have hard water. You'll typically see spots on your
dishes, you'll find yourself using more soap to get a decent
lather in the shower and you'll likely notice build-up on your
faucets and shower heads. While these things are annoying, what
you probably are noticing is that your water using appliances are
having to work harder which requires more energy consumption and
reduces the life expectancy of those appliances which ultimately
cost you significant money.
Scum Most visibly,
metal ions react with soaps and calcium-sensitive detergents,
hindering their ability to lather and forming a precipitate - the
familiar "scum" or "bathtub ring". Presence of "hardness ions"
also inhibits the cleaning effect of detergent formulations.
Scale Second, calcium and magnesium carbonates tend to
precipitate out as hard deposits to the surfaces of pipes and heat
exchanger surfaces. This is principally caused by thermal
decomposition of bi-carbonate ions but also happens to some extent
even in the absence of such ions. The resulting build-up of scale
can restrict water flow in pipes. In boilers, the deposits act as
an insulation that impairs the flow of heat into water, reducing
the heating efficiency and allowing the metal boiler components to
overheat. In a pressurized system, this can lead to failure of the
boiler. The damage caused by calcium carbonate deposits varies
depending on the crystalline form, for example, calcite or
aragonite.
Installing a Pro Series Water
Conditioner/Softener or Anti-Scale System is a great way to
resolve these issues.
Pro
Series Water Conditioning/Softening Systems
The
water to be treated passes through a bed of the resin.
Negatively-charged resins absorb and bind metal ions, which are
positively charged. The resins initially contain univalent
hydrogen, sodium or potassium ions, which exchange with divalent
calcium and magnesium ions in the water. As the water passes
through the resin column, the hardness ions replace the hydrogen,
sodium or potassium ions which are released into the water. The
"harder" the water, the more hydrogen, sodium or potassium ions
are released from the resin and into the water.

effective way to have great water throughout your home.

system stays in perfect working order.
Pro
Series Anti-scale Water Softener Alternative
The
Pro Series Anti-Scale System reduces the ability of water
molecules to form crystals of calcium and magnesium scale, by
helping to prevent calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate ions from
coming together. This process, called Template Assisted
Crystallization (TAC), results in the creation of microscopic
crystals of scale (seed crystals), which rapidly form in the
treated water, not on the contact surfaces of the water system,
and are carried downstream in colloidal suspension through the
water system until they leave with the water down the drain.
The Pro Series Anti-Scale System offers you an all natural
method of water filtration that will help to condition your water,
without a negative impact on our environment.
